Misconduct Working Group Update - April 27

Dear community members,

Much of our university community’s attention has shifted to responding to COVID-19. But we are reaching out to let you know that we remain focused on the issues surrounding sexual misconduct on campus that were raised earlier in the academic year and continue to move ahead with the decisions announced in March.

Last month, the President sent a letter accepting all of the initial recommendations from the first phase of the Husch Blackwell review. These were designed to better support survivors, provide clear disciplinary guidelines and improve communication with the campus community.

As previously mentioned, our focus remains on consolidating survivor resources, establishing presumptive termination for those found — after a thorough investigation — to have committed sexual assault, sexual harassment, stalking or interpersonal violence and ensuring that this information and process is more transparent and accessible.

Husch Blackwell plans to send their next set of recommendations to university leadership in the coming weeks.

We hope to have something more concrete to share with you next month as we begin the implementation of these recommendations.

Until then, stay safe and well.

Sincerely,

Rose Martinelli
